Joe Perry Project: Legends Collide

Fenway Park was buzzing with anticipation as the Joe Perry Project took the stage.  This gig blew away all expectations and what we got was nearly an hour of raw musicianship, memories, and a community united in their love for Aerosmith and The Black Crowes. Joe Perry, joined by Chris Robinson, gave the crowd a set that felt like a jam session between old friends—“Walk This Way” and “Hard to Handle” sent waves through the ballpark before closing with a blazing “Train Kept A-Rollin’.”

This wasn’t just an opening act—it was a celebration of rock lineage, of two voices and guitar riffs that have soundtracked decades of fans’ lives. The crowd was filled with lifers: people who’ve seen Aerosmith and The Who twenty-plus times, nodding along with the joy of familiarity.

The Who: A Rock ’n’ Roll Forever Experience

Then came The Who. They opened with “I Can’t Explain,” and in that instant, Fenway became more than a stadium—it became a time machine. “Substitute”, “Pinball Wizard,” “Who Are You”—the songs rolled out like a parade of memories. I can still remember when I thought it was the coolest thing to sing “Who the f*** are you?” as a kid—and on this night, the entire crowd roared it back in unison, proving those moments never lose their edge.

Roger Daltrey gave everything he had to every song, his voice carrying the weight of five decades of rock history. Pete Townshend, with his trademark windmill guitar strums, sunglasses, and blazer, looked effortlessly cool—an icon still commanding the stage like no one else can. “Eminence Front” shimmered with its keyboard groove, reminding us that The Who’s catalogue stretches far beyond their greatest hits into experimental brilliance.

In the Pit at Fenway

For me, standing in the pit photographing these legends was surreal. I struggled to find words for what this night meant—not just as a concert, but as an emotional rock ’n’ roll forever experience. To capture Joe Perry, Roger and Pete up close, to freeze these moments through my lens, felt like one of the true hallmarks of my career.

The photos are just glimpses of what it felt like to be inside Fenway Park with thousands of The Who’s ultimate fans, people who have walked alongside the band for half a century. One security guard told me he’s been working Fenway concerts since 2003 and has seen The Who here many times—but even for him, the night still felt extraordinary.

WHO fans and new friends.

The morning after, I realized: this wasn’t just another show. It was history, legacy, and gratitude rolled into one. To be able to share it in words and photographs is something I’ll carry with me forever.
