WSCA Mixtape Interview with Lauren Monroe & Rick Allen of Def Leppard

Lauren Monroe and Rick Allen discuss the Raven Drum Foundation’s purpose and upcoming Boston show with Bonnie, March 8, 2024. 

Recently Bonnie had a chance to speak with Lauren Monroe and Rick Allen about Lauren’s upcoming Boston show and goals of the  Raven Drum Foundation, established in 2001.  The foundation’s focus is to support survivors of post-traumatic stress through the use of music and mindfulness for healing. Rick shared that Lauren’s show is “really, really special as it creates a safe and sacred place and it allows people to open up, and in doing so they start to see one another. They start to see their vulnerabilities, you know. We love doing it. It’s so good for us as well. It really, it really feeds us.”

This week’s shows in Boston and New York City are to benefit first responders and Lauren announced that all proceeds from their merchandise sales and art auctions at their upcoming show in Boston will go towards supporting veterans and first responders.

The importance of live experiences in fostering a sense of connection and growth, especially in an increasingly isolated society is something to look forward to at any of Lauren’s shows.  She noted that her focus is on serving those who need healing, regardless of the number of people present.

When asked about what the future holds for the foundation, Lauren discussed the potential for their work to increase awareness and acceptance of post-traumatic growth among veterans and first responders. She emphasized the importance of supporting those who are ready to seek help and grow, and encouraging them to become teachers and ambassadors of this process. Lauren also highlighted the need for alternative support methods like equine therapy, energy medicine, acupuncture, and massage, and the importance of using intuition and perseverance in finding the right approach.
