A Plan for Zero Waste

In 2009, UNH Freshman Alex Fried had an idea that turned into a PLAN: Turn the tons of trash he saw UNH producing every semester into treasures. He started by taking pictures of the mountains of waste. By the time he graduated in 2013, the "Trash 2 Treasure" program he co-founded was in its 3rd year, and had recovered more than 100 tons of materials for re-use. Adios, amigo!

There were many great things that happened under Bjorn's direction: new studio was constructed,  membership grown, programming improved, the premisses organized and cleaned. Bjorn's decision to become the station's manager was one of the best things that happened to WSCA.  In November 2009 Bjorn announced that he is stepping down to pursue other opportunities in his life. WSCA kicks off membership drive

Portsmouth Community Radio invites new supporters and renewing WSCA members to contribute to the station's goal of raising $20,000 and signing up 250 new or renewed members during its eight-day membership drive, beginning Thursday, April 24. In conjunction with WSCA's Connecting Community Campaign, WSCA-LP will be donating the first dollar of every pledge to Cross Roads House, which provides secure, transitional shelter to those in need.
